the laundry room in the basement
There is an instruction sheet on the wall...in German...with some pictures...but mostly it just says, put your clothes in the washer, set the washer, pay for it, and wait. I think I can do all that, but about the settings...
This is the front of the washer. Seems simple enough, I don't need any of the fancy programs, just a temperature setting...and what seems to be sort of a choice between "normal" or "delicate"...ok done.
Now. This is the front of the dryer. I literally googled German dryer settings, and sure enough, someone has written a page called "Subtleties of a German clothes dryer". Which was actually really helpful. I'm sure at some point in high school German there was a textbook chapter about laundry just to get you to better understand compound words, but sadly that didn't stick with me until now.
Fast forward a couple hours, and I have clean clothes! And they don't appear to be horribly shrunken, and all the colors seem correct, so I'd call this a success.
Sorry the pictures are crazy boring. I mostly took them so I could look at them later and be sure I wasn't missing anything critical on the settings. Other than that today I've been mostly reading in preparation for classes next week. I'm hoping to go out exploring a bit tomorrow and I'll bring my camera and perhaps have something more exciting to look at.
